Draycot Aerodrome started back in the 1960’s when crop dusters were abundant in the UK and served as a base for various agricultural aircraft over the years. Local farmer Fred Butcher who sadly passed away in 2006, started to fly privately from Draycot in the 1970’s which acted as a magnet to other private operators.
In the mid 1990’s local entrepreneur, Rod Coplestone and his friend John Gibbs, took over the running of the airfield and it acted as home to almost 20 aircraft. John Gibbs in 2003 began to suffer ill health and Rod’s other business interests flourished leaving him little time to devote to the airfield, so the Lease was purchased by John Green who continues to be involved in Draycot to this day but with Lucinda Bowers who joined in early 2010, firmly at the helm!
